Any general recommendations other than milwaukee. As an aside does anyone have the milwaukee dab radio. Hence it s used for most purposes where more than one socket is needed. If you line it up with the indent in the socket it will lock on so it s safe for overhead use on linework commercial and industrial sites etc especially when the socket size isn t changing all day.

The purpose of the detent pin is to make sure the socket stays on. I end up tapping them on with a hammer. A hog ring is designed to work like a snap ring fitted around the square socket drive groove. The final big question remains.

The work of the hog ring is to hold the adapter or the socket onto the driver. Locking pin or ball holds the socket in place. The detent pin features a spring loaded ball bearing in the square groove to hold the socket onto the driver. Is there a reason i wouldn t want a detent pin model.

The clarke uses a friction ring to hold the socket on. I find this a pain to get the socket on to i don t know if there is a knack. However this does make for slightly slower and perhaps cumbersome work as it can be difficult to release especially if working with new sockets. Easier to remove the socket.
